Beardy Bastards

It’s really hard to show scale in space and I hope
it seems obvious enough that the living alien ship
is supposed to be HUUUGE!

And this is the end of the first chapter!
We were going for 25 comics for the first chapter
but ended up with 29. Good planning huh?
I’ll probably add another one this Thursday to
round it off at 30 if we can work it out story-wise.

Always enjoyable reading all the theories and analyses
of the comics.
Yes, the ship is supposed to look like a flying brick…
And I imagine there being a lift system where the ship
first goes up before lift-off.
That cliff behind the hangar door is a bit perspective
teasing I suppose.

NEVER get soft on a dwarf when he’s ready
to meet an heroic death… it may have unforeseen
consequences.
The real question is if Brokk did it intentionally
OR that Stromni just used this little emotional nudge
to avoid an honor-bound death?

Life gave me a nasty left hook but then gently
picked me back up and gave me a present…I think.
It’s been a bit hectic lately and any sort of productivity
has been rather limited.
Hopefully I’ll be up to speed for Thursday and make up
for today story-wise.

But for now I’ll present you with one of the very first
tests I did for Beardy Bastards.
Might be amusing to see how much difference a change
of setting (sci-fi instead of fantasy) makes for the overall
look and feel.

Quick, quick, QUICK!
This was supposed to become an ambitious 4,5 panel comic.
But it still takes a lot longer to make these comics then I planned.
So I’ve cut it in two parts and hope it doesn’t mess up the pacing
of Thursday’s comic.
I’ll stop talking now…should be working on the next comic.

Happy New Year!

Our beardy bastards are still “recuperating” from
the new years party.
Except Lokhar, who’s still drunk and waving that
flamethrower around.
The rest of the cast has not been very productive
as you can see.
They’re a great bunch to work with but sometimes
you just have to let them unwind for a bit.
Don’t worry though…
Dwarves have excellent stamina so they’ll be fit
and ready for action on Thursday.
